The basics

What can cosmetic dentistry fix?

Cosmetic treatments change how teeth look: their color, shape, size or the gaps between them. They're done by general dentists; cosmetic dentistry isn't a recognized dental specialty, so ask about the dentist's experience and to see their own before-and-after cases.

Healthy teeth and gums come first. If you have cavities or gum disease, the dentist will treat those before any cosmetic work.

Compare

Whitening vs bonding vs veneers: which is right for you?

Your dentist will recommend what fits your teeth. This is how the common options differ.

At the visit

How does a cosmetic consultation work?

The dentist checks your teeth and gums, asks what you want to change, and may take photos or a scan. Some offices show a digital preview or a trial version on your teeth. Ask for the plan, the number of visits, and how long the result usually lasts. Results differ from person to person.

Before you book

What should I ask the office?

  • How many of these cases has the dentist done?
  • Can I see your own before-and-after photos?
  • How long will the result last, and what upkeep is needed?
  • Will this affect my natural teeth?

And always: is the office in network for my insurance, and can I get a written treatment plan with costs before treatment starts?

How it works

How does the call work?

FindDentist365 isn't a dental office. We don't treat patients; we help you reach a dental office.

  1. Call and tell us what you need

A checkup, a toothache, braces, dentures: say it in your own words, plus your ZIP code. It takes about a minute.

  2. We connect you

Your call goes to a participating dental office or scheduling line that serves your area, when one is available.

  3. You book with the office

The office tells you its openings, which insurance it takes and its own prices. You decide whether to book.

Questions

Cosmetic dentistry: common questions

Is professional whitening better than store kits?

Dentist whitening uses stronger gels with protection for your gums and usually works faster. Whitening doesn't change crowns, fillings or veneers.

Do veneers ruin your teeth?

Traditional veneers remove a thin layer of enamel, which can't be undone. Ask the dentist whether minimal-prep options or bonding could work for you.

Will the dentist take my insurance?

Plans differ from office to office, including Medicaid and CHIP dental plans. Have your insurance card ready and ask the office before you book. If you don't have insurance, ask whether they offer payment plans or a membership plan.

Do I have to book an appointment?

No. The office tells you its openings, the insurance it takes and its prices, and you decide whether to book. If you book with a dental office, you pay that office directly for your care.

Who answers when I call?

We connect your call to a participating dental office or a dental scheduling line that serves your area, when one is available. We are not a dental office and we don't provide dental care.
